Triathlon Functional Strength Program
As part of the purplepatch methodology, our athletes have discovered that a program that incorporates regular functional strength training is an important supplement to the specific endurance training that is undertaken. This 8 week Triathlete Functional Strength Program is a perfect complement to your off-season training, and can serve as a fantastic introduction or evolution of your functional strength plan.
Section I of this plan has been developed specifically for triathletes who desire improved endurance training by charting daily exercises, on a simple, easy to read week-by-week basis for the duration of the program. Section II provides concise information on how exercises should be performed, including Start & Stop photos and a description of the desired movement. It is very simple to evolve the program to suit your level and ability in the exercises. About 50% of the program is built around training utilizing the TRX Suspension trainer, which is a wonderful tool for functional strength. The remaining exercises are focused on bodyweight exercises, which are simple to perform, yet remarkably effective.
